National Home Coming Conference

Since 2001, every effort had been made to involve the Vincentian Diaspora in the dialogue on the important issues being considered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Such was the case with constitution reform, with teams from the Constitution Reform Commission traveling to the United States, Canada, England and throughout the Caribbean to hold consultations with our Vincentian Diaspora. In 2008, the Ministry of Planning held discussions throughout our Vincentian Diaspora on this country's draft development plan.

As part of Vincy Homecoming 2009, that consultative process continues. On October 21st to 23rd, 2009, Vincentians will meet in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to development a framework document and action plan regarding how all Vincentians can make a greater contribution to the development and economic empowerment of Vincentians, regardless to their physical location.

Diaspora conferences will be held in the various Vincy Diaspora communities early in 2009 tp prepare for this conference. At the local level, inputs would be solicited from the various community homecoming committees and from a grouping made up of civil society, national organizations and community activists..
